Elegantly Bridging the Gap between Anatomy and Craftsmanship: An Exquisite Confluence of Human Curves and Chair Design.
In a world teeming with designs that often blur into uniformity, the BONEBRACE stands out as a testament to the marvel of human anatomy. Leveraging the organic curves of the body, this hand-carved chair mimics the intrinsic structures we so often take for granted.
While it may appear delicately fragile at a mere glance, its core strength lies in its domino joints, making it structurally resilient. Designed using Blender, this project exemplifies the synergy between modern technology and timeless design philosophy.

Juhl's 45 chair

The ethereal beauty of Finn Juhl's 45 chair served as a significant source of inspiration for the BONEBRACE. A celebrated icon of 20th-century design, the 45 chair possesses an unseen elegance, characterized by its strategic space between the frame and the seat. Such a design, while providing a sensation of lightness, effectively captures the beholder's gaze with its sheer beauty and elegance. Renowned as "The mother of all modern chairs” by design aficionado Mr. Noritsugu Oda, its influence is deeply rooted in the BONEBRACE.

Modern

Furthermore, the exquisite brass designs of a notable Chinese contemporary designer, particularly their lost-wax casting technique, provided a structural foundation. In marrying these diverse inspirations, the BONEBRACE emerges, bearing its unique skeletal aesthetic.

Skeches

Amidst sketches, process shots, and numerous design iterations, the BONEBRACE gradually took shape. From initial concepts exploring the fluidity of human bone structure to final renders revealing the chair's nuanced design elements, the journey showcased the challenge of aligning aesthetic aspirations with functional requirements.

Prototypes

In the journey of creating the BONEBRACE chair, understanding the nuances of joining different pieces of wood was paramount. The process of joinery is both an art and a science, determining not only the final look but also the structural integrity of the product.
